President Sertoğlu made press conference
The Cyprus Turkish Football Association (CTFA) has applied to join the ranks of the Cyprus Football Federation (CFA) after a 45-day ultimatum it had issued to resolve Turkish Cypriot footballers’ transfer fees expired, President Hasan Sertoglu announced at a press conference he held on Monday.

In a letter to FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke, copied to CFA and UEFA, President Sertoglu informed the world football’s governing body of the CTFA’s intention to harmonise its statutes with those of FIFA. “The CTFA is fighting to safeguard the future of the Turkish Cypriot youth and its actions have no political goals,” he said.
“We will complete our charter as soon as possible and put it before the Association’s extraordinary General Assembly” he added.

The CTFA’s decision to change its statutes, and put them for ratification to its members “as soon as possible” comes 17 months after an initial agreement was signed in Zurich on 5 November 2013 with CFA President Koutsokoumnis in the presence of FIFA President Sepp Blatter and UEFA President Michel Platini.
